The words of a recently bereaved husband. This is a tragedy repeated hundreds of times daily in the UK. Yesterday, appallingly, 1820 times.

We’ve been strictly following the guidance since the start and full-on shielding since September. We see no one, do nothing. It sucks. At times our commitment has faltered. But, we’ve stuck with it because we’ve known it’s the right thing.

You can’t do enough to keep yourself safe.

These words struck particularly hard. We do what we do because we don’t want to lose anyone close to us. We don’t want our carelessness to put anyone else through this kind of grief.
